This role is for the 2nd shift, offering a 10% shift premium for hours worked. The working hours are from 2 PM to 10 PM, Monday through Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation:
- Configure machinery according to specifications and best practices to achieve production goals.
- Ensure the correct materials are utilized per work order requirements.
- Conduct trials and document results as necessary.
- Complete quality documentation at designated stages of production.
- Mentor Manufacturing Associates through the training program.
- Strive for completion of the Manufacturing Operator training program.
- Package materials according to work order instructions.
- Operate Forklift safely.
Safety and Environmental Compliance:
- Adhere to safety regulations and standards.
- Promptly report any unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel.
- Raise concerns regarding potentially harmful environmental practices.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and manufacturing standards.
- Identify and report near misses and safety incidents.
- Maintain a clean workspace and comply with all safety requirements.
Production Management:
- Operate any production line as needed.
- Support initiatives from various departments, including Quality, Engineering, and Customer Care.
- Ensure adherence to the production schedule and communicate any discrepancies in output.
- Assist with material handling as necessary.
- Manage downtime effectively through efficient changeovers and start-ups.
Continuous Improvement and Maintenance:
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to minimize downtime and enhance efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for Kaizen or other improvement initiatives.
- Maximize throughput and operational uptime.
- Report maintenance issues related to production lines and enter work orders as needed.
- Troubleshoot machinery and seek assistance for identified issues.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Training and Development:
- Keep training records up to date and obtain necessary sign-offs.
- Train fellow employees and validate their training progress.
Visual Management:
- Maintain a customer-ready factory environment at all times.
- Oversee point-of-use storage systems to ensure they are adequately stocked.
- Assist in managing Kanban systems.
Core Competencies:
- Demonstrate dependability and lead by example.
- Utilize sound judgment in decision-making processes, considering safety implications.
- Exhibit a proactive approach to mentoring and task accomplishment using LEAN and problem-solving methodologies.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to ensure clarity and understanding.
- Make informed decisions from available alternatives.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team to achieve common objectives.
- Complete necessary paperwork, including production reports and calculations.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
- Ability to comprehend complex work instructions.
- Basic computer, math, and Microsoft Office skills.
- Team-oriented with the ability to lift 50-75 pounds.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Flexibility to work different shifts as business needs dictate.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with flexible materials.
- Proven track record of strong communication skills and above-average job performance.
- Forklift certification is a plus.
