Position Summary:
Support the Outlet Supervisor in daily store operations. Take charge of store activities in the absence of the Outlet Supervisor. Execute responsibilities of an Outlet Sales Associate.

Key Responsibilities


Manage essential Outlet functions when the Outlet Supervisor is unavailable, including handling daily financial transactions and ensuring staff provides exceptional customer service as per established guidelines.

Guide team members on sales inquiries or challenges; notify the Outlet Supervisor or designated individual regarding personnel issues.

Organize merchandise effectively within the store.

Ensure a tidy, safe, and pleasant shopping environment by adhering to proper housekeeping standards.

Customer Assistance:
a) Aid customers in locating products and/or

b) Assist in transporting purchased items to their vehicles (excluding loading items into vehicles).

c) Report any customer concerns or complaints to the Outlet Supervisor.

Sort and remove unsold items for recycling or disposal as necessary.

Carry out opening and closing tasks as required.

Perform cashier responsibilities as needed.

Welcome customers upon entry and express gratitude as they depart.

Additional Responsibilities
Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:
At least six months of retail sales experience required; experience in 'as-is' retail preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
Forklift certification must be completed within 90 days of hire.

Knowledge:
Basic mathematical skills.

Familiarity with electronic cash registers (can be learned on the job).

Understanding of company and retail policies and procedures (can be learned on the job).

Awareness of Goodwill Central Coast's mission and retail policies (can be learned on the job).

Equipment:
Standard sales and material handling equipment/forklift.

Skills and Abilities:
Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written. Basic Spanish communication skills preferred.

Ability to train new employees in operational procedures as directed.

Quick decision-making skills with confidence.


Ability to handle a variety of tasks, often shifting from one to another without losing efficiency or composure.


Maintain a strong sales presence with high energy and enthusiasm, positively impacting overall Outlet sales and employee morale.


Learn and accurately execute opening/closing procedures, cash register operations, bank deposit processes, and related paperwork as necessary; supervise cash register functions as needed.

Ability to operate a forklift, requiring passing forklift training and obtaining certification within 90 days of placement.

Ability to price items at fair market value.

Ability to coordinate movements safely around merchandise and fixtures.

Ability to quickly operate cash registers and handle merchandise.

Ability to make informed judgments and communicate clearly based on established policies.

Demonstrate satisfactory attendance as outlined in company policy.


Adhere to safe work practices as documented in company safety policies; promptly report safety hazards or accidents to a supervisor or safety committee member.


Work Environment
Work is conducted in a large metal warehouse and adjacent outdoor areas. The environment is not climate-controlled, with fluctuating temperatures. There may be exposure to dust, odors, and fumes. The working surface is uniform, with noise from radios. Collaboration with sales staff and management is essential, with constant public interaction. The role may involve short deadlines or special events, potentially requiring overtime. Expect varying periods of high activity throughout the workday.

Physical Requirements
The work pace is steady, requiring constant standing and walking. The position involves moderate to heavy physical demands, including regular lifting and carrying of items up to 50 lbs.

Heavy items (over 50 lbs.) should be moved using appropriate material handling equipment or with assistance from colleagues.

Normal or corrected hearing, speaking, and vision abilities are necessary to perform required tasks.
