Position Summary:
Assist the Outlet Supervisor in managing daily operations. Take charge of store functions when the Outlet Supervisor is unavailable. Execute the responsibilities of an Outlet Sales Associate.

Key Responsibilities


Supervise essential Outlet operations in the absence of the Outlet Supervisor, including daily financial transactions, ensuring that Outlet personnel provide customer service in line with established protocols.

Guide team members on sales inquiries or challenges; report any personnel issues to the Outlet Supervisor or designated representative.

Organize merchandise within the store effectively.

Ensure a tidy, safe, and welcoming shopping environment by adhering to best practices in cleanliness.

Customer Assistance:
a) Aid customers in locating products and/or

b) Assist in transporting purchased items to their vehicles (excluding loading into vehicles).

c) Communicate any customer concerns or complaints to the Outlet Supervisor.

Sort and manage unsold items for recycling or disposal as necessary.

Carry out opening and closing procedures as needed.

Perform cashier responsibilities as requested.

Welcome customers upon entry and express gratitude as they depart.

Additional Responsibilities

Qualifications

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience:
At least six months of retail sales experience required; experience in "as-is" retail preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
Forklift certification must be completed within 90 days of hire.

Knowledge:
Basic mathematical skills required.

Familiarity with electronic cash registers (training provided on the job).

Understanding of company and retail policies (training provided on the job).

Awareness of Goodwill Central Coast's mission and retail policies (training provided on the job).

Equipment Utilized:
Standard sales and material handling equipment, including forklifts.

Skills and Abilities:
Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Basic Spanish communication skills preferred.

Ability to train new employees in operational procedures as directed.

Capacity to make prompt and confident decisions.


Ability to manage a variety of tasks efficiently, often shifting from one responsibility to another without losing productivity.


Maintain a strong sales presence with high energy and enthusiasm that positively influences overall Outlet sales, teamwork, and employee morale.


Learn and accurately execute opening/closing procedures, cash register operations, and related paperwork as necessary; supervise cash register functions as needed.

Ability to operate a forklift, requiring successful completion of training and certification within 90 days of starting the position.

Ability to price merchandise competitively.

Ability to coordinate movements safely around fixtures and merchandise.

Ability to operate cash registers and handle merchandise efficiently.

Ability to make sound judgments and communicate decisions clearly based on established policies.

Demonstrate satisfactory attendance as outlined in company policy.


Adhere to safety practices as documented in company policies; report safety hazards or incidents promptly to a supervisor or safety committee member.


Work Environment
Work is conducted in a large warehouse setting, including outdoor areas. The environment is not climate-controlled, leading to significant temperature variations. There may be exposure to dust, odors, and fumes. The work surface is uniform, and noise from radios may be present. Collaboration with sales staff and management is essential, with frequent interaction with the public. The role may involve meeting tight deadlines or managing special events, potentially requiring overtime. There are periods of high activity and demand throughout the workday.

Physical Requirements
The work pace is steady, requiring constant standing and walking. The position involves moderate to heavy physical demands, including regular lifting and carrying of items up to 50 lbs.

Heavy items (over 50 lbs.) should be moved using appropriate equipment or with assistance from colleagues.

Normal or corrected vision, hearing, and speaking abilities are necessary to perform required tasks.
