About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Professional to join our team at Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. in Seattle, WA. As an HSE Professional, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental well-being of our employees, clients, and the communities we serve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement HSE Plans: Assist in the review, development, and deployment of project-specific HSE plans and other documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct Site Visits and Audits: Perform on-site technical support activities, including site visits and audits, to identify and mitigate HSE hazards and issues related to project operations.
  • Provide Technical Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert advising project leadership on HSE-related technical and compliance matters, including contract specifications and technical safety language.
  • Deliver HSE Training: Develop and deliver HSE training to meet various company, national, and local requirements, and raise awareness of and competency in Geosyntec HSE initiatives, performance, and issues.
  • Support Incident Investigations: Assist in the investigation of incidents, injuries, and non-conformances in both project and office environments.
  • Comply with Company Policies: Ensure compliance with the company's policies and procedures, including Human Resource and Risk Management policies.
  • Perform Ergonomic Risk Assessments: Conduct ergonomic risk assessments as required or requested, and provide recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or reduce risk.
  • Support Corporate HSE Programs: Support the advancement and improvement of the Corporate HSE programs and initiatives.
  • Participate in Professional Development: Actively participate in professional societies, conferences, and meetings to further continue professional development and increase the visibility of the firm to potential clients and recruits.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, science, or related discipline (required); advanced degree in the same (preferred).
  • Experience: At least 5 years of full-time HSE experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (required); progressive experience includes identifying hazards, interpreting and enforcing laws and regulations, interpreting health and safety data, evaluating causes for unsafe work practices, conducting interviews of employees about HSE matters, writing reports and technical materials (required).
  • Certifications: Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) accreditation or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) accreditation (preferred).
  • Travel: Regular site visits and overnight travel (required).
