About the Role

The IT Specialist is integral to our operations, focusing on the implementation of our standardized security framework and developing a deep understanding of specific security tools. This position serves as a security advocate, promoting and supporting security initiatives across the organization. Responsibilities include hands-on interaction with security tools, managing escalated security issues, and participating in incident response activities. The ideal candidate will troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges, set up hardware, configure software, conduct testing, and work alongside project managers. Responsibilities also encompass process documentation, user training, and contributing to project evaluations. This role requires a mix of technical, security, and project management expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Internal:

  • Implement, maintain, and support comprehensive security solutions.
  • Collaborate with Sales and vCIO teams to effectively integrate the standard security framework within our client base.
  • Enhance knowledge of security products and services, clearly communicating their benefits as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain the internal standard security framework.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with security protocols, standard operating procedures, and established configuration standards.
  • Engage with internal service and project teams to optimize operations.
External:
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and networking.
  • Install and configure hardware components, including servers, computers, and networking devices.
  • Deploy and configure essential software applications according to project requirements.
  • Conduct thorough testing of systems and applications to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Identify and report bugs or issues, collaborating with the development team for timely resolution.
  • Work closely with project managers to outline project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation of project-related processes, configurations, and procedures.
  • Provide user training on newly implemented technologies or systems.
  • Participate in post-project evaluations to gather insights, identify lessons learned, and highlight areas for improvement.

Preferred Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of professional IT experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards and best practices regarding operational IT infrastructure.
  • Experience in evaluating, recommending, and participating in strategic organizational enhancements.
  • Advanced technical skills supporting Windows and Mac environments (servers, cloud, and networking).
  • Excellent communication skills, including effective facilitation, listening, and writing.
  • Ability to articulate thoughts clearly and concisely.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Training and certifications in IT and cybersecurity (A+, Network+, Security+, etc.).

Physical Requirements

This role primarily involves knowledge work utilizing computer systems. Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required to move office or computer equipment. The position may involve occasional crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Constant use of computers (keyboard/mouse) and phones is necessary, along with visual inspection and analysis of data. Occasional travel may be required, along with exposure to outdoor conditions during travel.
