Position Summary



ROLE SUMMARY:
The Radiologic Technology Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting Radiologic Technologists during imaging procedures. This position serves as a primary point of contact for patients, medical professionals, and staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Support Specialist:

  • Professionally handles incoming calls, coordinates exam scheduling, provides preparation instructions, and addresses general inquiries related to imaging.
  • Assists Technologists with thorough patient assessments prior to imaging procedures.
  • Facilitates patient gown changes (when necessary), screens and documents patient information, transports patients, and ensures their comfort and ease throughout the imaging process.

  • Reviews and confirms physician orders, ensuring all previous images are available for comparison.
  • Assists in the reception and processing of incoming images from external facilities for comparative analysis.
  • Supports documentation efforts for essential patient information required for accurate exam interpretation and care.
  • Collaborates with schedulers, technologists, and colleagues within the department as needed.
  • Fosters positive working relationships and contributes effectively to the department's goals and objectives.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots technical issues, liaising with vendors to resolve any arising problems.
  • Maintains adaptability as the department evolves, willingly accepting additional responsibilities as directed by management.

  • Recognizes the emotional state of patients and demonstrates compassion, even through simple gestures.

  • Completes all mandatory training and education requirements annually.
  • Participates in departmental meetings as per standard expectations.
  • Arrives punctually and prepared for work at the designated start time.
  • Assists patients with mobility on and off imaging tables.
  • Supports CT Technologists in patient positioning during procedures.
  • Manages IV access and de-access for patients as required.

Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent; must possess or obtain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Experience: 1-3 months of relevant experience preferred, but not mandatory.

Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety protocols, operational instructions, and procedural manuals. Capable of effectively communicating with groups of patients and staff.

Mathematical Proficiency: Basic mathematical skills required.

Cognitive Abilities: Must maintain focus on detailed tasks amidst interruptions and sustain attention to duties over extended periods. Ability to learn and utilize computer systems for data entry as necessary.

Performance Expectations: Strong communication skills essential for effective interaction with patients and team members. Demonstrates sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy in conflict resolution.
