Position Overview - Classification Analyst
Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Classification Analyst to join our Information Security division. Our team operates on a 9x80 schedule, allowing for every other Friday off.

In this role, you will apply engineering principles and theories to develop, interpret, and manage the Department of Energy (DOE) Classification and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) programs. You will also engage in relevant Information Security initiatives and collaborative groups.

You will report directly to the Information Security department manager.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct technical analysis for the administration of DOE classification, unclassified nuclear information (UCNI), and controlled unclassified information (CUI).
- Assist in the formulation and interpretation of local classification and controlled information guidelines.
- Perform classification and declassification reviews for classified materials associated with INL and DOE Operations Office.

- Ensure that documents such as reports, press releases, and scientific publications containing potentially classified information are thoroughly reviewed and appropriately protected before public dissemination.

- Support the training and certification of INL derivative classifiers (DCs) and UCNI Reviewing Officials (UCNI-ROs).
- Provide expert guidance on classification and sensitive information matters to INL DCs and UCNI-ROs.

- Offer classification, classified matter protection and control (CMPC), and sensitive information guidance to INL employees, subcontractors, and associated entities, demonstrating a proactive approach to addressing potential issues.

- Collaborate with the Information Security Department on programmatic self-assessments in line with the Safeguards and Security Performance Assurance Program and relevant DOE Orders.

- Participate in the Classification Office's CMPC Committee to develop and maintain policies, procedures, and training related to document marking, accountability, and destruction.

- Assist in the coordination and interpretation of regulations, preparation of company procedures, compliance verification, and document reviews for Information Security Programs (i.e., Classification, UCNI, OUO, CMPC, OPSEC).

Qualifications:
- Level 1: Bachelor of Science in a scientific or technical discipline.

- Level 2: Bachelor of Science in a scientific or technical field with 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a scientific or technical area.

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, necessitating U.S. Citizenship.


Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with DOE classification directives, guides, and bulletins.
- Background in one or more of the following classified subject areas:
- Nuclear Nonproliferation, Arms Control and Foreign Policy
- Chemical and Biological Weapons
- Counterintelligence/Intelligence Work
- Isotope Enrichment Technology
- Nuclear Weapons
- Radiological Emergency Response
- Safeguards and Security
- Nuclear Material Production and Processing
- Other Government Agencies (OGA) including Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program

Salary Information:
- Level 1: ($63,528 - $130,284)
- Level 2: ($75,804 - $155,496)
