Job Overview

The Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Classification Analyst to join our Information Security division. This role involves working within a structured schedule and contributes to the development, interpretation, and management of approved Department of Energy (DOE) Classification and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) initiatives. The successful candidate will engage in various Information Security programs and collaborate with working groups.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct technical evaluations in the management of DOE classification, unclassified nuclear information (UCNI), and controlled unclassified information (CUI).
  • Assist in the formulation and interpretation of local classification and controlled information protocols.
  • Perform classification and declassification assessments for classified materials associated with INL and DOE Operations Office.
  • Utilize applicable DOE classification principles to ensure that documents containing sensitive information are reviewed and protected prior to public dissemination.
  • Support the training and certification processes for INL derivative classifiers and UCNI Reviewing Officials.
  • Provide expert guidance on classification and sensitive information issues to INL personnel.
  • Deliver classification, classified matter protection and control (CMPC), and sensitive information training to relevant INL employees and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with the Information Security Department on programmatic self-assessments in accordance with the Safeguards and Security Performance Assurance Program.
  • Participate in the Classification Office’s CMPC Committee to develop and maintain policies and procedures related to document handling.
  • Assist in the interpretation of regulations and the preparation of compliance verification documentation for Information Security Programs.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 1: Bachelor of Science in a scientific or technical discipline.
  • Level 2: Bachelor of Science in a scientific or technical discipline with 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a scientific or technical field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, requiring U.S. Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with DOE classification directives and guidelines.
  • Experience in at least one of the following classified subject areas:
    • Nuclear Nonproliferation, Arms Control, and Foreign Policy
    • Chemical and Biological Weapons
    • Counterintelligence/Intelligence Operations
    • Isotope Enrichment Technology
    • Nuclear Weapons and Radiological Emergency Response
    • Safeguards and Security
    • Nuclear Material Production and Processing
    • Other Government Agencies including Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program

  • Salary Range: Level 1: ($63,528 - $130,284) / Level 2: ($75,804 - $155,496)
