Job Summary

The Communication Specialist is a critical member of the Children's Mercy team, responsible for providing exceptional patient care and coordination services. This role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Triage and process emergent and non-emergent requests from providers for transports, direct admissions, Emergency Department referrals, and consults.
  • Utilize quality improvement measures and lean standard work to improve communication of patient care.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development to expand knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve patient placement and throughput.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting.
  • One of the following: Licensed Emergency Med Tech MO, Licensed Emergency Med Tech KS, Licensed Paramedic KS, Licensed Paramedic MO, Certified Nurse Aide MO, Certified Nurse Aide KS, Licensed Practical Nurse KS, Licensed Practical Nurse MO, LPN Multistate License, LPN Multistate License Kansas required upon hire.
  • OR Professional Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Required Upon Hire.
  • CFC (Certified Flight Communicator) per IAMTCS Preferred.

This position is not eligible for remote work, and the successful candidate will be required to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations.
