Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Activity Program Coordinator to join our team at Foundations for Living. As a key member of our behavioral health team, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing medically approved activity programs for patients in our behavioral health setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement activity programs that promote socialization, confidence, and interpersonal relationships among patients.
  • Regulate the content of programs to meet patients' capabilities, needs, and interests.
  • Instruct patients in relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, concentration, and other activities, to reduce stress and tension.
  • Lead calisthenics, stretching, and limbering exercises, as well as individual and group sports, to promote physical activity and well-being.
  • Counsel and encourage patients to develop leisure activities and interests.
  • Prepare progress charts and periodic reports for medical staff and other members of the treatment team, reflecting patients' reactions and evidence of progress or regression.
  • Supervise and conduct in-service training of other staff members, review their assessments and program goals, and consult with them on selected cases.
  • Train other members of the interdisciplinary team in techniques of activity therapy.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or higher education required.
  • Current CPR certification, according to unit-specific needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in providing structured activities and programs for patients with behavioral health needs.
  • Knowledge of activity therapy techniques and principles.
  • Computer literacy and experience with Microsoft Office products or similar software.
