Position SummaryThe Custodial Program Coordinator is responsible for executing and overseeing intricate custodial tasks. This role includes managing the cleaning and sanitation of municipal buildings and facilities, as well as performing inspections of these spaces and their equipment. The position operates under limited supervision, allowing for significant initiative and independent decision-making.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are essential to the role but do not encompass all tasks performed by every individual in this position:
- Oversees and executes general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and window cleaning.
- Coordinates minor repairs within buildings, scheduling, and the relocation of office furnishings and other items.
- Conducts minor maintenance and repair on custodial machinery.
- Cleans and disinfects areas such as restrooms, offices, and other facilities, utilizing appropriate cleaning agents.
- Maintains cleanliness of office furniture, walls, windows, and floors; manages waste disposal.
- Operates floor maintenance machinery, including buffers, strippers, vacuums, and extractors.
- Inspects facilities for cleanliness, completion of tasks, and necessary repairs.
- Keeps inventory records of building assets, custodial tools, and cleaning supplies.
- Secures buildings after operational hours as required.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
- Applicants will undergo a comprehensive background check. Any incomplete or inaccurate information may lead to disqualification.
- Applicants must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening.
- A valid class "C" driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety is required, along with a satisfactory driving record.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
A high school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent is required.
Experience RequirementsNo prior experience is necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Working knowledge of custodial materials, chemicals, and equipment operation.
- Familiarity with cleaning methods and inventory management principles.
- Ability to utilize standard technical skills relevant to the work environment.
- Understanding of basic operational and technical processes.
- Capability to operate cleaning equipment such as buffers and vacuums.
Includes but is not limited to:
- Custodial equipment and supplies
- Safety gear such as goggles and gloves
- Cleaning tools
Work conditions are generally free from unpleasant environmental factors, though there may be occasional exposure to outdoor elements and risks.
Mental DemandsThis role requires effective written and verbal communication skills, the ability to interpret data and documents, mathematical reasoning, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks and deadlines while interacting with staff and the public.
