DEPARTMENT MISSION
The mission of the Harbor Light Center is to provide effective leadership through established policies and procedures, ensuring that the needs of our clients are met with compassion and professionalism.
PROGRAM/CLIENT ENVIRONMENT
Our clients come from diverse backgrounds and may exhibit various challenging behaviors. Employees are expected to respond appropriately within the treatment framework of the facility. All interactions, whether verbal or written, must reflect the supportive environment we strive to maintain.
OUTCOMES
The Front Desk Clerk plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety and comfort of the living environment for our clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answering phone calls in a courteous and professional manner, directing them to the appropriate department or individual.
- Conducting daily wellness checks on senior residents and those requiring medication, ensuring their well-being at the start of each shift.
- Managing entry to the Harbor Light facility, greeting approved guests and visitors, and notifying clients of their arrivals.
- Safeguarding room keys and reporting any incidents involving clients under the influence of substances.
- Following established emergency response procedures as necessary.
- Delivering mail and messages to clients and keeping the contact directory updated.
- Redirecting inquiries about admission criteria to the Intake department, as this position does not handle such questions.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This role reports directly to the Resident Manager and acts as a representative of The Salvation Army and its mission in all relevant interactions.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
Performance will be assessed based on the effectiveness of achieving the outlined outcomes, as well as the accuracy and timeliness of task completion.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Preferred experience in a residential treatment program setting.
- Experience with phone switchboard operations is advantageous.
- A minimum of one year of sobriety is required.

POSITION LIMITATIONS

- Adhere to all policies and procedures in fulfilling job responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This position requires light physical activity, including the ability to navigate stairs and lift items up to 50 lbs.
- Regular use of standard office equipment and computers is necessary.
- The work environment is primarily office-based with a low noise level.
- Ability to work with clients facing social challenges, mental health issues, and substance use disorders is essential.
