About the Department:

The Community Business Partnership (CBP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the growth of small enterprises in Northern Virginia and its neighboring regions. Our mission is to provide accessible financial resources to underserved and underbanked micro and small business owners.

As a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) recognized by the U.S. Department of Treasury's CDFI Fund, CBP specializes in serving market segments that traditional financial institutions often overlook. Additionally, we are an approved U.S. Small Business Administration Intermediary Microlender and a lending provider for the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. Our lending activities are conducted through the Business Finance Center (BFC).

CBP also operates as a sponsored program of the Mason Enterprise Center at George Mason University, providing clients with essential business development support services, including training, one-on-one counseling, and both in-house and virtual incubation services.

About the Position:

We are currently seeking a Lending Operations Administrative Coordinator to enhance the efficiency of the Business Finance Center (BFC) and support our expanding lending operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing the engagement process for applicants and borrowers within the lending team.

This role reports directly to the leadership of the Business Finance Center at the Community Business Partnership. The Lending Operations Administrative Coordinator will collaborate with various CBP programs and staff to fulfill the overarching objectives of CBP and cater to the needs of the low-income, socially disadvantaged communities we serve.

This is a part-time position (maximum 29 hours per week).

Responsibilities:

The following duties will be performed as directed by the BFC leadership, authorized by CBP management, and in alignment with the organization's lending policies and applicable funding source requirements:

  • Facilitate and support the monthly/bi-monthly loan billing processes;
  • Assist BFC leadership in maintaining and monitoring the management of delinquent loan portfolios;
  • Process delinquency notifications and communicate with borrowers in default;
  • Provide guidance and assistance to loan prospects and new applicants during the pre-application and application phases;
  • Aid in loan origination in accordance with established loan funds, policies, and procedures;
  • Assist in preparing approved loan funding packages and communicate with qualified borrowers as necessary;
  • Maintain funding databases;
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational and loan policies and procedures;
  • Support reporting requirements as outlined in contracts and grant agreements;
  • Conduct data entry as required for each job function;
  • Ensure effective and timely communication; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

The Lending Operations Administrative Coordinator position requires experience in loan underwriting procedures and a solid understanding of small business operations.

  • Minimum of two years of experience in loan underwriting or support;
  • At least two years of experience in administrative professional office support;
  • Knowledge of funding principles, methods, procedures, and resources;
  • Proficiency in MS Office software and experience with lending software/applications;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional attention to detail;
  • Strong time management and organizational skills;
  • Capability to assess priorities, organize tasks, and operate flexibly;
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines;
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining professional relationships with individuals from diverse social and cultural backgrounds;
  • Excellent communication skills; and
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to the organization's needs.

Must be able to pass a background check to work on federal lending programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Knowledge of small business operations;
  • Familiarity with business and financing issues;
  • Experience with community-based programs;
  • Background in non-profit lending;
  • Business experience; and
  • Public speaking skills.
