Position Overview:
Under minimal supervision, the Vision Care Sales Specialist is responsible for marketing and promoting a diverse range of proprietary eye care products to healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize analytical tools to formulate a territory business strategy based on product portfolio opportunities and strategic guidance from the home office.
  • Drive performance in the territory by focusing on growth in prescriptions and market share.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of managed care coverage for products and effectively communicate updates to healthcare providers.
  • Employ and refine clinical selling techniques to add value and influence customer perspectives on treatment options and patient management, including:
    • Managing promotional budgets and determining expenditures for promotional activities within the business plan.
    • Visiting ophthalmologists and optometrists according to an established call plan and independent assessment of prescription activity and growth potential.
    • Utilizing available samples in compliance with FDA guidelines to maximize impact with the promotional audience.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of specialty pharmaceutical sales experience with a proven track record of success.
  • Required residence within the designated territory.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmology is preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency with clinical studies, reprints, and other third-party proof sources.
  • Proficient PC skills (Microsoft tools); Familiarity with computer systems such as PeopleSoft, GBS, email, and other administrative tools.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business trade journals, professional journals, and financial reports, as well as compose reports, business correspondence, and standard operating procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills are essential.
  • Valid driver's license required for travel to customer locations.
  • Some overnight travel may be necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
