We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our ADGE Department in Tewksbury, MA. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and documenting components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment. Your expertise in mechanical design, development, and documentation of cables, harnesses, and connectors will be essential in meeting defense system requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.
- Design, develop, and document cables, harnesses, and connectors to meet defense system requirements.
- Contribute to small to mid-sized cross-functional teams as a technical lead through all phases of development from proposal generation, program start-up, requirements allocation, preliminary and detailed design development, and production.
- Lead and mentor the engineering team as a technical expert within the integrated product team environment.
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop robust design solutions and resolve technical challenges.
- Work with limited supervision and meet technical, schedule, and monetary commitments.
- Participate in design peer reviews and conduct trade studies to promote sound technical decisions.
- Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem-solving and hardware development in an engaged team environment.
- Engage in personal technical growth and facilitate technical growth in peers and junior engineers.
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.
- Experience designing cables, harnesses, and connectors for defense or commercial systems.
- Experience with MIL-Spec Fiber Optic and Radio Frequency cables, assemblies, and/or connectors.
- Experience using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Military cable and electromechanical system design/troubleshooting experience.
- ASME Y14.5 GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) experience.
- Strong CAD design experience (CREO, AutoCAD preferred).
- Experience with PDM/Windchill or similar product data management tool.
- Existing secret clearance.

This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.

The salary range for this role is $96,000 USD - $200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function, and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
