Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team at RTX. As a key member of our Mechanical Engineering Organization, you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and production of radar and combat system equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements.
Lead design effort, within integrated product team, team size variable, as large as 10 members. (Collaborating across multiple disciplines with Structural and Thermal analyst, Materials Engineering, Quality, Safety, Supply Chain).
Provide scheduling, staffing, and budget oversights to aforementioned lead efforts
Lead a team(s) with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals.

Requirements

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree in a related field and a minimum of 5 years' experience.
Experience with designing and developing mechanical equipment, preferably for use in Military environments.
Experience and strong working skills with 3D CAD design tools and ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T experience
Experience with metal fabrication (machining, sheet metal) and/or assembly joining techniques (fasteners, welding).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience/understanding of structural analysis/structural design and thermal analyses, and designing compliant parts accordingly
Experience leading a multi-disciplined, technical team with the ability to develop, empower, motivate, and monitor the team.
Experience with bid/proposal efforts, Earned Value Management (EVM) and Project planning, and Risk & Opportunity Management
Ability to achieve results with a minimum of conflicts and within schedule
Demonstrated team player, self-driven leader with ability to mentor less senior engineers
