Position Summary

We are in search of a Senior RF Engineer or Materials Scientist with a robust background in advanced military-grade materials designed for extreme operational environments, including high-power radio frequency (RF) and high-energy laser (HEL) applications, as well as radiation exposure. This role is essential for the Engineering & Support Solutions Business Unit.

The ideal candidate will engage in the development and assessment of structural and functional materials through advanced modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis. The selected individual will also be responsible for generating comprehensive recommendations through technical briefings, reports, and various analytical documents. Additionally, they will mentor junior staff, review peer work, contribute to multi-disciplinary analytic teams, and stay informed on relevant high-power RF, laser, and nuclear technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exhibit a deep understanding of high-power RF and HEL characteristics and their impact on material performance.
  • Identify future investment opportunities for the DoD and its partners to enhance the development of advanced technologies that mitigate the effects of directed energy and radiation.
  • Oversee Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation activities across various subsystems, including power sources, pulsed power systems, RF sources, and optical systems.
  • Collaborate effectively with teams of scientists, engineers, and technicians to ensure project success.
  • Support the integration of hardware components onto platforms, participating in assembly and installation activities.
  • Investigate interactions between target materials and RF/laser propagation to optimize performance.
  • Engage with technical personnel and clients to clarify tasks, identify issues, propose changes, and document solutions.
  • Lead programs and initiatives, developing innovative technical concepts and methodologies.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for leadership and decision-makers.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with SAP eligibility.
  • Over 10 years of recognized expertise in the Directed Energy Weapon (DEW) community.
  • Extensive experience in DEW development through analysis and hardware systems.
  • Knowledge of DoD acquisition processes and policies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on relationship building.
  • Advanced experience in moderate hazard work environments and thorough knowledge of safety operations.
  • Demonstrated understanding of state nuclear programs and technologies.
  • Proficiency in utilizing S&T and academic databases.
  • Ability to work effectively within or lead a team and communicate complex analyses clearly.
  • Strong written communication skills for technical analysis and program characterization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline or related STEM field.
  • Familiarity with the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) organizational structures.
  • Experience in intelligence analysis and multi-INT databases.
  • Advanced experience in moderate hazard areas and knowledge of safety operations.
  • Current certifications for CNWDI and NATO.
  • Military or defense-related experience with operational planning understanding.
  • Experience in developing and communicating methodological approaches to complex problems.
  • Familiarity with nuclear-related and S&T analytic centers within the DOD and IC.

Compensation

$140,000 - $230,000, based on experience and other factors.
