Furthermore, the candidate will provide insights in the form of technical briefings, reports, and other analytical documents, mentor junior staff, review peer contributions, and actively participate in multi-disciplinary analytic teams while staying informed on relevant high-power RF, laser, and nuclear technologies and trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of high-power RF and HEL characteristics and their impact on material performance in system applications.
  • Identify future initiatives and investments by the DoD and its industry partners to enhance the capability to develop and deploy advanced technologies that mitigate the effects of directed energy and radiation on system components.
  • Oversee Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation activities across various functional subsystems, including prime power sources, pulsed power systems, RF sources, high-power antennas, optical systems, and sensors.
  • Collaborate effectively with teams of scientists, engineers, and technicians across projects to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Support the integration of hardware components onto platforms, participating in assembly and installation at various test sites.
  • Investigate interactions between target materials and RF/laser propagation to optimize performance.
  • Engage with technical personnel and clients to clarify tasks, identify issues, propose modifications, and develop comprehensive solutions.
  • Lead programs and initiatives, fostering innovative technical concepts and development activities.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for leadership and decision-makers within government sectors.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance, with SAP eligibility.
  • 10+ years of recognized expertise in the Directed Energy Weapon (DEW) community, with a deep understanding of DE technologies or systems.
  • 10+ years of experience in DEW development through analysis, hardware systems, or both.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, policies, and guidelines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service abilities, with advanced skills in relationship building.
  • Extensive experience in moderate hazard work environments (e.g., explosives handling, radiation, fissile material, electrical) and a thorough understanding of process hazard analysis and safety operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state nuclear programs, trends, and technologies.
  • Proficiency in utilizing S&T and academic databases.
  • Ability to work effectively within or lead a team, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Capability to convey complex analyses in a manner understandable to non-experts and senior government officials.
  • Ability to articulate technical analysis results and program characterizations clearly in writing.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline or a related STEM field.
  • Knowledge of the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) organizational structures and communication protocols.
  • 3+ years of experience in intelligence analysis, including the use of multi-INT databases for analytic assessments and briefings.
  • Advanced experience in moderate hazard areas and comprehensive knowledge of process hazard analysis and safety operations.
  • Current certifications and access for CNWDI and NATO.
  • Military or defense-related experience with an understanding of operational planning.
  • Experience in developing and communicating methodological approaches to complex problem sets.
  • Familiarity with nuclear-related and S&T analytic centers within the DOD, IC, and/or Interagency.
