ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Tin Building features a diverse array of dining options, including full-service restaurants, fast-casual eateries, and retail spaces offering a selection of gourmet products. To support this extensive operation, the marketplace is equipped with a large commissary kitchen and bakery, along with an exhibition kitchen that presents unique media opportunities.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Seafood Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing the Central Market experience at the Tin Building. This position involves fish butchery, product preparation, and providing exemplary customer service. The Seafood Specialist is responsible for ensuring a positive shopping experience while educating customers about various seafood products. Maintaining a well-stocked and visually appealing display case is essential, along with ensuring product freshness.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform various tasks including raw materials intake, food handling, filleting, and preparation of seafood products.
  • Ensure products are displayed according to brand standards and maintain freshness.
  • Assist customers by weighing, packaging, and labeling seafood items.
  • Act as a knowledgeable resource for seafood inquiries, providing assistance as customers approach and leave the counter.
  • Stock, rotate, merchandise, and quality check products in accordance with department procedures and health regulations.
  • Support service and tasks across all counters as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with the Tin Building's operational standards.
  • Organize and maintain back and storage areas according to departmental guidelines.
  • Communicate department needs and issues promptly to management.
  • Participate in scheduled inventory procedures and audits.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Perform additional duties as required or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a seafood-related role or relevant experience.
  • Strong knife skills and proficiency in using utensils for product preparation.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional hospitality to customers.
  • Professional demeanor and polished appearance.
  • Capacity to remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with a collaborative spirit.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Passionate and dedicated to achieving success.
  • Food Handler's license preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform essential job functions safely and successfully, meeting productivity standards.
  • Regular, punctual attendance is required.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 10 – 30 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Frequent movement within the work area, including bending, lifting, and reaching.
  • Regularly climbing steps as part of job duties.

The base pay range for this position is $24.00 per hour. Compensation will be determined based on various factors, including prior experience and qualifications.
