Internship Opportunity

The Special Events Team at Marbles is tasked with the strategic planning and flawless execution of a range of events tailored for families, adults, and fundraising initiatives. During these events, guests are treated to an unforgettable experience characterized by imaginative decor, delightful food and beverages, themed activities, and interactive games.

We are looking for a Special Events Intern who is eager to assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of upcoming events. This internship will provide an invaluable opportunity to learn about event management while gaining practical experience in a fast-paced environment. Interns will develop crucial skills in communication, organization, problem-solving, and teamwork, all of which are essential for future career success. Please note that this is an unpaid internship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and develop innovative event concepts and themes that will create memorable experiences for attendees.
  • Assist in identifying and coordinating with vendors and suppliers for various events.
  • Participate in planning sessions and post-event debriefs to evaluate successes and areas for improvement.
  • Support the management of pre-event tasks to ensure smooth operations.
  • Help collect and organize feedback from participants to recommend enhancements for future events.
  • Assist with venue setup, catering logistics, and equipment rentals.
  • Contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere for attendees by helping with setup and ensuring all activities run smoothly.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Must be currently enrolled in an academic program that requires an internship for credit.
  • Preferred fields of study include Hospitality, Event Management, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in event planning, hospitality, or customer service is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Proficient time management skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to handle challenges and assist clients in a courteous and effective manner.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, bend, and stoop.
  • Capable of moving equipment, pushing/pulling carts, and lifting heavy items.
  • Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 40 pounds.
Work Schedule
  • This is an unpaid internship requiring a commitment of approximately 10 hours per week.
  • Availability on weekends and evenings is highly preferred.
  • Interns will primarily work on-site, with some flexibility for remote tasks as necessary.
Work Environment
  • Conditions may include low lighting, loud noises, and occasional outdoor environments.
