About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced ROSS Service Coordinator to join our team at the Housing Authority of the City of Austin. As a key member of our Community Development department, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing a comprehensive Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a network of education, training, and supportive services for residents, including mental health, substance abuse, economic development, and other resources.
  • Create and maintain a directory of available service resources and act as a liaison between participants and providers.
  • Identify needs, define clear and measurable goals, and connect residents with resources to address those needs.
  • Document participant progress and re-evaluate services for adequacy.
  • Assist participants in completing application and enrollment forms.
  • Have regular contact with clients, including in-person, by phone, and in writing.
  • Complete paperwork, data entry, monthly reports, and case notes accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Coordinate referrals to and/or provide on-site supportive services for ROSS participants.
  • Evaluate needs and gaps in services and work to identify solutions.
  • Participate in meetings and resident activities, and coordinate public hearings for resident input.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports to the Supervisor on progress and areas for improvement.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and a minimum of one year of social service and community outreach-related experience and training.
  • Associate's Degree; two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in managing or delivering social service programs.
  • Language skills in Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, or Sign Language.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Spanish.
  • Case management experience.
  • Working knowledge of HUD rules and regulations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of community and supportive resources related to social services and community/workforce development.
  • Ability to interact with persons from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to deal effectively with situations that require tact and diplomacy, yet firmness.
