Position Overview

This role is situated within a State or Area Office of USDA/Rural Development (RD).

The individual in this position will manage loans either issued or backed by the government, as well as grants for small-scale commercial financing.

Note: This position may qualify for hiring incentives.

This role requires in-person attendance at the designated duty location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluates and assesses preapplications, applications, and all accompanying documentation to ascertain loan or grant eligibility, entering data into the relevant automated database system.
  • Drafts written recommendations for loans/grants and submits them for supervisory review.
  • Facilitates a variety of servicing actions for assigned, less complex loan cases.
  • Collaborates with a program specialist and/or supervisor to develop and execute outreach and marketing strategies for the servicing area.

Qualifications

Applicants must fulfill all qualifications and eligibility criteria by the cutoff dates of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as detailed below.

For the GS-9 level: Candidates must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level; or its non-Federal equivalent demonstrating experience in assisting higher-graded specialists with loan underwriting, such as processing mortgage, business, or commercial loans up to the point of final approval by a specialist with loan approval authority. OR hold a Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR an LL.B. or J.D., if relevant. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are acceptable at this grade level.

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Relevant fields of study include finance, business administration, economics, accounting, insurance, engineering, mathematics, banking and credit, law, real estate operations, statistics, or other related disciplines.

Additional Information

To qualify for this position, the new hire must be cleared to start once the results of the fingerprint check and review of necessary documentation have been completed satisfactorily. This role necessitates a favorable credit check as part of the background investigation.
