Position Overview

The Metal Fabrication Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient assembly of projects and sub-components, aiming to fulfill fabrication requirements and complete work orders that yield high-quality products delivered on schedule.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 3:00 pm

Compensation: Starting wage of $22.91, with opportunities for increased earnings based on performance and experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute precise fabrication tasks, including setup, layout, and fitting, based on the accurate interpretation of engineering drawings, work orders, and standard operating procedures.
  • Select appropriate fabrication tools and methods in accordance with blueprints and sketches.
  • Perform fit-up and tack welding of materials following standard practices to ensure compliance with specified tolerances.
  • Review completed welds and projects consistently to verify adherence to blueprint tolerances, and make necessary adjustments through cutting, grinding, and other methods.
  • Conduct final welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, FCW, SMAW) according to engineering specifications, ensuring weldments meet required standards.
  • Safely handle and transport materials and equipment using forklifts and overhead cranes, adhering to company safety protocols.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED, with at least one year of experience in fabrication or completion of a relevant training program. Certified Welder AWS or equivalent experience is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Mechanical Proficiency: Strong understanding of spatial reasoning and mechanical systems.
  • Welding Expertise: Proficient in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Technical Skills: Competence in using computer systems for job tracking.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret complex drawings and perform mathematical calculations.
Physical Requirements:
The role requires standing for extended periods, lifting heavy items, and working in environments with exposure to noise and mechanical hazards. Personal protective equipment may be necessary.

Work Environment:
Team members may encounter fumes, moving parts, and varying noise levels while performing their duties.
