Job Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the CT Imaging Technician operates Cat Scan equipment, positions patients to obtain diagnostic images safely, and performs related tasks.

Patient Population:

Core competencies will be evaluated primarily on imaging procedures involving various conditions, including but not limited to: vascular, neuro, and musculoskeletal disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes C.T. equipment to capture radiographic images of specified body areas, ensuring proper positioning and patient comfort.
  • Conducts data reconstruction and special processing of imaging results, assessing completed scans for quality and accuracy.
  • Monitors patients closely, providing first aid as needed, and communicates with physicians regarding any discrepancies in patient conditions.
  • Performs clerical duties such as managing patient records and requisitions.
  • Maintains accurate data records on imaging results and ensures proper identification of films.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Adjusts immobilization devices to ensure precise positioning and patient comfort.
  • Stays informed on advancements in diagnostic imaging techniques through ongoing education and professional development.
  • Practices sterile techniques and maintains cleanliness in the imaging environment.
  • Adheres to radiation safety standards and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Records work hours accurately in compliance with hospital policies.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • ARRT (R) certification.
  • Certification as a Medical Radiologic Technologist from the Texas Medical Board.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • ARRT (CT) Credential (to be obtained within one year).

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

  • Thorough understanding of anatomy, imaging techniques, and radiation safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of radiographic physics and medical terminology.
  • Ability to assess exposure factors for optimal imaging results.
  • Skill in operating Cat Scan equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Capacity to adapt techniques to enhance departmental practices.
