Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the CT Technician I operates Cat Scan equipment, positions patients to obtain diagnostic images safely, and performs related responsibilities.

Patient Population:

Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient populations; imaging with and without contrast for various conditions including but not limited to: vascular, neuro, gastrointestinal, and musculoskeletal diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operates CT equipment to capture radiographic images of specified body areas, ensuring correct positioning and patient comfort.
  • Performs data reconstruction and evaluates images for quality and accuracy.
  • Monitors patients closely, providing first aid as needed, and communicates with physicians regarding any discrepancies in patient conditions.
  • Handles clerical tasks such as managing patient records and requisitions.
  • Maintains accurate records and ensures proper identification of images.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service principles in all interactions.
  • Utilizes immobilization devices to ensure precise positioning during scans.
  • Stays updated on advancements in diagnostic imaging techniques through continuous education.
  • Practices sterile techniques and maintains cleanliness in the imaging area.
  • Adheres to radiation safety standards and participates in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Records hours worked in compliance with hospital policies.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Licensure/Certifications:

  • ARRT (R) certification
  • Texas Medical Board certification as a Medical Radiologic Technologist
  • Current CPR certification
  • ARRT (CT) Credential (to be obtained within one year)

Required Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and radiographic techniques.
  • Familiarity with radiographic physics and medical terminology.
  • Ability to determine optimal exposure factors for quality imaging.
  • Skill in evaluating radiographs for technical accuracy.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment during procedures.
  • Proficiency in operating Cat Scan equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Willingness to innovate and improve techniques within the department.
