Job Overview

Position Summary

We are in search of both entry-level and seasoned Mammography Technologists to conduct X-ray, Dexa, and Mammography screenings & diagnostics, as well as assist Radiologists during biopsy procedures.

Our facility plays a vital role in enhancing patient care within the Queens Community. As Northwell's largest affiliate Ambulatory Imaging Center, we offer a wide range of imaging services including CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-ray, Dexa, Mammography, and PET CT, all utilized for diagnostic purposes and image-guided procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Radiologists to confirm exam details and ensure optimal image quality.
  • Review and correlate previous imaging reports using Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System lexicons to categorize procedures.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, explaining procedures in layman's terms to alleviate any pre-test anxiety.
  • Conduct mammography exams in accordance with established standards and protocols, adjusting imaging equipment to achieve correct exposure.
  • Assist physicians during mammographic image-guided interventional exams, including stereotactic biopsies and localization procedures.
  • Perform general X-ray exams, including bone density assessments, as required.
  • Handle specimen imaging when necessary, ensuring proper labeling and documentation for Pathology.
  • Monitor patients' conditions in line with technical and safety standards, promptly reporting any abnormalities to Radiologists or nursing staff.
  • Complete necessary documentation throughout the examination process.
  • Operate equipment for transferring images to film or digital formats.
  • Ensure images are accurately marked and labeled with patient identification.
  • Input patient history and relevant information into the system.
  • Maintain imaging equipment, making adjustments as needed and reporting any mechanical issues.
  • Manage supply inventory in the assigned area and maintain cleanliness of the procedure room.

  • Encourage positive communication and deliver exceptional service during patient experiences.
  • Align imaging services with Northwell Health's strategic vision to meet community needs.
  • Strengthen relationships with referring physicians and the community to ensure timely access to imaging services.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration in Mammography.
  • A minimum of 200 mammography exams performed within the last 24 months.
