Position Overview

The Financial Aid division comprises a dedicated team of Financial Aid Consultants nationwide who engage with prospective and current students daily. Our specialists act as the primary resource for guiding students and their families through the intricate landscape of financial assistance. This team is instrumental in helping students comprehend and secure the funding necessary for their educational pursuits.

As a Financial Assistance Advisor, your main duty is to empower students to make well-informed choices regarding their educational financing options, leveraging your expertise in financial aid programs, scholarships, grants, and loans. You will collaborate closely with Admissions, Student Success, and various internal departments.

This role reports directly to the Financial Aid Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Offer guidance and support to students and their families throughout the financial assistance journey. Address inquiries, resolve concerns, and provide insights on available financial aid resources.
  • Assist students in completing financial aid applications, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other pertinent forms. Review submissions for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility.
  • Analyze students' financial situations to assess their eligibility for different financial aid programs. Evaluate income, assets, and other factors to determine the expected family contribution (EFC) and the necessity for aid.
  • Remain informed about federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies governing financial aid programs. Ensure compliance with these guidelines throughout the aid process.
  • Collaborate with other departments to conduct workshops, seminars, and informational sessions aimed at educating students, families, and staff about financial aid options, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the financial aid sector within a higher education environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (e.g., finance, accounting, or education). Relevant certifications or professional development in financial aid administration are preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of federal and state financial aid programs, policies, and regulations, including FAFSA and Title IV guidelines.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to accurately assess financial need and eligibility criteria.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to convey clear and concise information to diverse audiences.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with financial aid management software and databases.
  • Demonstrated ethical and professional conduct, ensuring the confidentiality and privacy of student information.
