Position Overview

Peraton is seeking a dedicated background investigator to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring the integrity of individuals requiring access to sensitive U.S. Government information.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will undertake the following duties:
  • Participate in an extensive 6-7 week training program to achieve certification in Federal Investigative Standards for government background assessments.
  • Engage in daily travel to perform in-person investigations to evaluate the eligibility of individuals for classified information access.
  • Conduct direct interviews with subjects, as well as their neighbors, employers, friends, and family within the assigned locality.
  • Execute record searches at various institutions, including law enforcement agencies, courts, and healthcare facilities.
  • Document all findings in a clear and concise manner using a government-issued computer system.
  • Work independently while also collaborating with a team of investigators and a Field Manager.
Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience or a bachelor's degree; experience in federal background investigations is preferred.
  • Must possess Top Secret clearance qualification; an active federal background investigation with T5 adjudication is advantageous.
  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
  • Local and occasional out-of-town travel is required.
  • A home office setup is necessary.
  • Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY) may be required with remote travel.
  • Must reside within the specified mileage as per the job description.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation is essential.
  • Ability to type accurately and work proficiently across multiple computer applications simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail are vital.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.
  • Physical capability to move, endure long periods of standing, and drive in challenging conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment while working under remote supervision.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
