Position Overview

Peraton is seeking a dedicated background investigator to join our team. This role is essential for ensuring the integrity of individuals who require access to sensitive U.S. Government information. Candidates should be located within a specified distance from the operational area.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected Investigator will be responsible for:
  • Completing an extensive training program lasting 6-7 weeks to gain certification in Federal Investigative Standards.
  • Conducting daily travel to perform in-person investigations assessing the eligibility of individuals.
  • Engaging in face-to-face interviews with various stakeholders including subjects, neighbors, and family members.
  • Executing thorough record searches at relevant institutions such as law enforcement agencies and courts.
  • Documenting findings accurately and succinctly using designated government systems.
  • Working independently while also collaborating with a team of Investigators and a Field Manager.
Qualifications:

Required:
  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience or a bachelor's degree; experience in federal background investigations is a plus.
  • Must possess Top Secret clearance; an active federal background investigation with T5 adjudication is preferred.
  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
  • Local and occasional travel is required.
  • A home office setup is essential.
  • Willingness to undertake Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY) may be necessary.
  • Must reside within the specified mileage from the operational area.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
  • Proficiency in typing and the ability to navigate multiple computer applications simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail are vital.
  • Maintain a high standard of confidentiality, ethics, and integrity.
  • Physical capability to perform tasks that may include extended periods of standing and driving in challenging conditions.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
