Finance and Accounting Internship - Finance Track

The Finance and Accounting Internship Program at Fifth Third Bank offers a project-based, 10-week experience designed for college students to engage in practical work supporting our operations.

This is a compensated professional development opportunity where you will gain insights into Fifth Third Bank's business methodologies, operational practices, and procedural frameworks, equipping you with the essential skills for a future role in commercial banking.

Eligible interns may receive housing assistance.

Responsibilities

As an intern, you will be entrusted with managing risk, encouraged to share ideas and concerns openly, and expected to adhere to policies and procedures that protect the organization.

Upholding integrity in interactions with customers and colleagues is paramount; your actions will contribute to a positive customer experience, driving tangible results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting various risks.

This internship is ideal for college students who excel in analyzing critical financial data to extract significant business insights.

Key Activities

The Finance and Accounting Internship Program provides specialized tracks in finance or accounting, fostering the development of financial acumen, critical thinking, and business insight.

Participants will experience guided early-career development through structured and independent learning and training initiatives.

You will enhance your problem-solving skills and learn to communicate effectively within a financial context, drawing data-driven conclusions while interacting with Fifth Third Bank's senior leadership.

Interns will work on various projects, receiving constructive feedback and evaluations based on accuracy, thoroughness, and adherence to deadlines.

Additionally, you will have the chance to receive mentorship from industry experts, engage with executive leadership, and participate in networking and social events.

At the conclusion of your internship, you will present your experiences to the senior leadership team, highlighting key learnings and project overviews.

Job Duties

- Execute special projects as directed by your Assignment Leader.
- Responsibilities may include:
- Constructing, analyzing, and distributing monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Providing analysis for the monthly forecasting process.
- Supporting the annual budgeting process.
- Conducting financial variance analysis to identify business trends.

Required Qualifications

- Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a business-related degree (preferred majors include accounting, economics, finance).
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Demonstrated campus involvement or leadership experience.
- Relevant internship or co-op experience.
- Ability to engage in both guided and self-directed learning activities.
- Strong attention to detail and effective communication of financial information.
