Position Summary:

The Unity Lab Services division of Thermo Fisher Scientific offers essential on-site instrument services at client locations. Our team is dedicated to enhancing customer experiences and optimizing service operations. The primary service area includes Central Texas, with additional support for neighboring regions.

A company vehicle will be provided to facilitate travel to various customer sites within the designated service area.

Weekly overnight travel is anticipated, averaging 1 to 2 nights away from home.


In this role, you will manage various facets of field service support and customer relations within our Laboratory Essentials sector.

You will deliver comprehensive services on laboratory instruments, including repairs, preventive maintenance, installation, and compliance services, while representing Thermo Fisher Scientific.


Our ideal candidate will prioritize customer satisfaction, advocate for Thermo Fisher Scientific within client laboratories, enhance service delivery, and actively contribute to growth.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair, install, and maintain a range of laboratory equipment, including incubators, centrifuges, and cold storage units.
  • Schedule and perform detailed preventive maintenance and corrective services to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Provide on-site training for Biomedical Engineering Technicians or advanced operators.
  • Manage expenses and trunk stock inventory efficiently.
  • Document daily service activities in the company work order system.
  • Maintain professional and knowledgeable communication with clients to ensure clarity regarding service events (status, costs, scheduling, etc.).
Qualifications:

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Associate degree in Electronics or Engineering preferred.
  • EPA Certification preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year in field service, depot repair, or servicing medical devices/laboratory equipment.
  • Strong background in electronics/electrical and mechanical systems preferred; refrigeration experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with basic testing equipment such as DMMs, tachometers, and temperature devices.
  • Proficient in using computers, smartphones, and related software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of working independently to diagnose and resolve issues using schematics and technical resources.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Action-oriented, with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm, consistently meeting deadlines.
  • Strong customer focus, building robust relationships and delivering exceptional service.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs with assistance and carry 25-30 lbs throughout the day.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the territory and stay overnight as needed.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and demonstrate safe driving practices.
