Wissahickon Charter School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Vice Principal of Academic Affairs to join our leadership team. This role is pivotal in enhancing the educational experience at our institution.

The Vice Principal will play a crucial role in supervising, mentoring, and assessing both apprentice and assistant educators, as well as up to five lead instructors. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the Principal, Director of Learning Support, and Director of School Culture to design and implement targeted professional development initiatives aimed at achieving the school's academic and behavioral objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Instructional Oversight

  • Collaborate with the Principal and leadership team to ensure a cohesive K-8 educational framework.
  • Facilitate the application of effective curricula and classroom management strategies, remaining informed about best practices in education.
  • Evaluate student performance data to identify areas for improvement in curriculum and instruction.

Staff Development and Coaching

  • Support and evaluate all teaching staff to ensure high-quality instruction.
  • Provide constructive feedback to educators in a timely manner.
  • Assess professional development needs and create tailored training sessions for staff.
  • Participate in the recruitment and assignment of instructional personnel.

Leadership and School Administration

  • Foster a transparent and approachable leadership culture.
  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team to enhance school culture.
  • Manage daily school operations and respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Engage with families to support student development and educational decisions.

Qualifications:

Required

  • A minimum of four years of teaching experience, with at least two years in an urban educational environment.
  • Two years of leadership or coaching experience in an educational setting.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.
  • Strong understanding of effective behavioral management strategies.
  • Proficiency in curriculum and instructional practices.
  • Demonstrated success in improving academic outcomes and school culture.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • A commitment to addressing issues of equity and bias in education.

Preferred

  • A Master's degree in education or a related discipline.
  • Pennsylvania Principal Certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience in middle school education.
  • Strong management skills with a focus on training and supporting instructional staff.
