Team Dynamics
The role of the Academic Leadership Coordinator is pivotal within our high school located in Wilmington, Delaware. At Freire Charter School Wilmington, we emphasize dual graduation goals: completing high school and pursuing college education. We inspire our students to exceed their expectations while providing the necessary support, including personalized college counseling. The recent graduating class achieved remarkable success, receiving offers from numerous colleges and universities along with substantial scholarship funding.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Head of School, the Academic Leadership Coordinator will play a crucial role in the daily management of the school, with a primary focus on enhancing instructional leadership. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Enhancing the performance of instructional staff through formal and informal classroom evaluations and coaching.
  • Analyzing data to refine school operations and boost student achievement.
  • Creating a culture of instructional excellence characterized by standards-based, problem-solving approaches, collaboration, and a commitment to maximizing student learning experiences.
  • Providing teachers with strategies to enhance curriculum, instruction, assessment, and classroom management.
  • Promoting a positive school climate, ensuring adherence to the Student Code of Conduct, and effectively resolving student conflicts.
  • Assisting with daily school operations, including student arrival and dismissal, celebrating achievements, scheduling, attendance, and facility management.

Candidate Profile

  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher.
  • 3-5 years of experience in K-12 public or charter education, particularly in high-need environments.
  • Previous leadership experience, such as mentor teacher, department chair, or assistant principal.
  • A strong understanding of effective instructional practices that empower students.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to build relationships within the school community.
