Team Dynamics
In the role of Academic Leadership Coordinator, you will be integral to our high school in Wilmington, Delaware, known as Freire Charter School Wilmington (serving grades 8-12). Our mission emphasizes dual graduation—both from high school and college. We encourage our students to reach unprecedented heights, providing them with the necessary support, including personalized college counseling. The Class of 2023 achieved remarkable success, receiving offers from 81 distinct colleges and universities, totaling over $10 million in scholarships. This accomplishment is a testament to the familial atmosphere at Freire Wilmington, where students and educators collaborate to shape each student's future.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Head of School, the Academic Leadership Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the daily operations of the school, with a strong focus on instructional leadership. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Enhancing the quality of instruction by conducting both formal and informal classroom evaluations and providing coaching support.
  • Analyzing data to refine school operations and promote student achievement.
  • Creating a culture of instructional excellence characterized by collaborative, standards-based, and problem-solving approaches to learning.
  • Offering guidance and strategies to educators for improving curriculum, instructional methods, assessment, and classroom management.
  • Promoting a positive school climate, ensuring adherence to the Student Code of Conduct, and effectively resolving student conflicts.
  • Assisting with daily operational tasks, including student arrival and dismissal, celebrating achievements, scheduling, attendance management, and facility oversight.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate possesses a steadfast belief in the potential of every student and embodies our core values of equity, compassion, critical thinking, and diversity. To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher.
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience in K-12 public or charter schools, particularly in high-need environments.
  • Prior leadership experience, such as mentor teacher, department chair, or assistant principal.
  • A comprehensive understanding of effective instructional strategies that empower students.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to build relationships within the school community, including students, educators, and administration.

Compensation and Benefits
