ROLE SUMMARY AND DUTIES

The Educational Support Specialist engages in tasks that are instructional in nature or provide direct services to students or their families. This role operates under the guidance of a teacher or another professional who holds ultimate responsibility for the development and execution of educational programs and services.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborating with classroom educators to align instructional strategies
  • Creating lesson materials, visual displays, exhibits, and demonstrations
  • Delivering subject content to students under the supervision of teachers, utilizing lectures, discussions, or guided role-playing techniques
  • Providing individualized tutoring and support to students in small groups to enhance understanding and reinforce learning concepts
  • Overseeing students in various settings including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and during field excursions
  • Assisting in the administration of assessments and evaluations
  • Monitoring and documenting student behavior in accordance with established protocols; reporting on student progress and conduct
  • Performing routine clerical tasks such as preparing instructional materials, operating copy machines, and maintaining attendance records
  • Supporting teachers by organizing workspaces, managing displays and exhibits, operating audiovisual and educational equipment, and handling the distribution and collection of materials
  • Consulting with teachers as necessary regarding programs and resources to address student needs
  • Guiding students by providing positive examples, emotional support, and general advice

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree or completion of at least 18 college credits
  • Preferred experience of at least two years in an educational environment
  • Proficient in office software and comfortable using technology
  • Ability to engage effectively with children, adults, and families
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
