Job Summary

The Salvation Army USA Central Territory is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to fill the role of Children's Development Program Assistant. This position plays a vital role in supporting the well-being of families and children residing at the Emergency Lodge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Implementation: Assist in the development and implementation of educational and social programs for children and their families, ensuring a comprehensive approach to their needs.
  • Family Support: Meet with families to conduct intake assessments, providing a thorough understanding of their requirements and circumstances.
  • Community Partnerships: Establish and maintain strong relationships with local school districts and relevant personnel, advocating for the coordination of services to support children's education and well-being.
  • Parental Support: Collaborate with parents/guardians to enhance their parenting skills and advocate on behalf of their children, promoting a supportive and nurturing environment.
  • Childcare and Logistics: Provide childcare services while parents meet with professional staff, and assist with logistics such as family sign-ups, transportation, and event coordination.
  • Program Administration: Identify and report the need for program supplies, accept and process donations, and maintain accurate records of program statistics for monthly reports.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the Director, Family Social Worker, and other community agencies to ensure seamless coordination of services and effective communication.
Requirements
  • Education: An Associate's degree in an educational or human services-related field is preferred.
  • Certifications: A valid Wisconsin Driver's license with clearance to drive from The Salvation Army's insurance carrier is required.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children and the homeless population is preferred.
