Overview

Synerfac Technical Staffing is in search of a proficient Hydrographic Survey Technician. In this role, you will be integral to our civil engineering initiatives, executing hydrographic surveys, gathering data, and generating precise bathymetric maps. Your collaboration with our engineering team will be essential to achieve project goals with accuracy and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct hydrographic surveys utilizing various instruments, including single-beam and multibeam echo sounders, side-scan sonar, and GNSS positioning systems.
  • Perform field assessments and inspections to detect potential hazards and obstructions in waterways, harbors, and coastal regions.
  • Work alongside project managers, engineers, and clients to establish survey objectives, methodologies, and expected deliverables.
  • Execute safe operations of small vessels.
  • Maintain and calibrate survey instruments to guarantee optimal performance and accuracy during fieldwork.
  • Follow safety protocols and industry standards to minimize risks and ensure a secure working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Stay updated with advancements in hydrographic surveying technology and best practices to improve project outcomes and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in hydrographic surveying, data processing, analysis, and interpretation.
  • USCG license is mandatory.
  • C.H. certification is preferred.
  • Proficient in operating hydrographic survey equipment and software, including Hypack, CARIS, QINSy, and ArcGIS.
  • Willingness to travel to various project sites and work under diverse weather and environmental conditions, including offshore and remote locations.
  • Ability to work comfortably on the ocean and exhibit minimal susceptibility to seasickness, as the position may involve extended durations aboard survey vessels in various sea conditions.
