Job Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is responsible for executing advanced maintenance and repair tasks across the property, encompassing HVAC systems, electrical components, plumbing, and pool maintenance. Flexibility to work during weekends and holidays is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Guest Relations

  • Exhibits a strong commitment to guest satisfaction by promptly addressing their needs.
  • Strives to meet or surpass guest satisfaction benchmarks.
  • Ensures that hotel standards and services facilitate consistent guest experiences.
  • Implements guest service initiatives in alignment with Gulph Creek Hotels' standards.

Maintenance Responsibilities

  • Install, adjust, and repair building systems while assessing operational conditions.
  • Identify issues and apply preventative measures. Authorize the procurement of necessary parts and supplies.
  • Conduct safety system tests, such as emergency lighting, and maintain accurate records.
  • Regularly inspect and monitor building systems, ensuring timely adjustments and repairs.
  • Maintain attendance in accordance with Gulph Creek standards, adapting to hotel needs.
  • Uphold high standards of personal grooming and appearance, including proper uniform and identification.
  • Adhere to Gulph Creek standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Support the implementation of a preventive maintenance program for all hotel equipment.
  • Participate in periodic safety system inspections.
  • Ensure prompt and courteous handling of room maintenance requests.
  • Respond immediately to alarms to assess location and cause, determining emergency status and necessary repairs.
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to comply with Loss Prevention guidelines.
  • Ensure that the property is maintained in optimal condition with minimal disruption to guests.
  • Perform basic repairs on air conditioning units, including filter changes and coil cleaning.
  • Repair or replace tiles, grout, and caulking as needed.
  • Conduct basic furniture repairs and assist with hanging artwork.
  • Maintain the pool by cleaning, vacuuming, adjusting chemical levels, and replacing filters.
  • Keep accurate records of pool chemical balances.
  • Carry out maintenance and repair tasks on both the interior and exterior of buildings.
  • Test pool chemicals on a daily basis.
  • Ensure timely handling of room maintenance requests.
  • Follow up on alarms to ascertain their exact location and cause, determining emergency status and repair needs.
  • Work closely with the Chief Engineer and management on a daily basis.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position or a degree with at least one year of relevant experience.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills are essential.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.

LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Proficient in reading and speaking English/Spanish, with the ability to comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Strong communication skills with employees, guests, and supervisors to ensure optimal property operations.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Demonstrated engineering skills are required.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

  • Proficiency in refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, boiler operation, maintenance skills, and knowledge of water treatment and chiller operations.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
