The Corporate Senior Risk Manager is a pivotal role within our organization, overseeing risk management strategies to enhance operational efficiency and patient safety.

Position Summary:
The Senior Risk Manager is responsible for coordinating activities that involve the collection, analysis, and reporting of data to support system-wide risk mitigation and quality enhancement initiatives. This role serves as a vital resource and consultant to the risk management department and facility leaders, focusing on identifying patterns and trends through System Improvement Reports (SIRs). The position emphasizes data utilization to uncover system patterns and generate actionable insights for proactive risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilizes risk objectives and performance metrics to foster standardization, optimize care delivery, minimize errors, and achieve organizational quality benchmarks. Acts as a leader and resource for clinicians and Risk Managers across the network.
- Maintains comprehensive risk management statistics and documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations, including The Joint Commission. Remains informed about current and upcoming regulatory requirements related to risk management functions.
- Conducts business analysis of risk data to mitigate operational losses and ensure the protection of organizational assets.
- Develops tools to facilitate various risk management processes, including the identification and analysis of incidents and loss data.
- Assists in data extraction and employs report writing software to organize data for meaningful report generation.
- Analyzes patterns and variances to pinpoint opportunities for system-wide risk reduction.
- Creates proactive risk reduction and performance improvement action plans, assists in their implementation, and evaluates outcomes for effectiveness.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders to devise strategies aimed at improving risk performance and outcomes, reporting findings to senior leadership as necessary.
- Provides risk-related support to facility departments by analyzing event trends to develop strategies for harm reduction and improved patient outcomes.
- Offers educational resources for training opportunities to enhance the clinical staff's knowledge base, presenting materials to employee groups as appropriate.
- Facilitates the sharing of best practices within Covenant Health by monitoring and analyzing lessons learned from root cause analyses, distributing relevant insights across departments.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education: No specific educational requirements; however, candidates must meet the standards for licensure and/or certification as required by the relevant authority.
Minimum Experience: An equivalent combination of education and experience, including a valid RN license, a Bachelor's degree in nursing, business administration, health administration, public health, education, or a related field, along with four years of direct patient care experience in a clinical healthcare setting and two years in a management or risk management role.
Licensure Requirement: A valid Tennessee RN license is required.
