Job Overview

This position is ideal for an individual eager to leverage their comprehensive events and logistics expertise within a dynamic and varied setting. The Events Manager will collaborate with the Events Team to execute an ambitious schedule of events aimed at enhancing the Boston Globe Media's brand presence, particularly through Globe Events, while driving revenue and strengthening community ties.

This role involves close collaboration with the Director of Events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overseeing event staffing and managing on-site personnel
  • Developing and managing a detailed run of show along with other essential materials for moderators, panelists, vendors, guests, and staff prior to the event
  • Ensuring the Events Team has all required resources to deliver the event as promised
  • Creating and developing post-event recap presentations for sponsors
  • Maintaining internal event metrics and comprehensive record-keeping
  • Managing specific live and virtual events from inception to completion, including oversight of staff tasks
  • Administering event registration pages, guest lists, and supervising the creation of marketing materials for events
  • Tracking event and attendee data post-event to inform improvements for future events, both internally and for sponsors
  • Contributing ideas during planning and promotional marketing meetings to enhance existing and upcoming events
  • Professionally engaging with external vendors, nurturing relationships with key groups, services, venues, etc., and coordinating appropriate vendor bookings for event requirements
  • Efficiently multitasking while maintaining organization, whether working independently or as part of a team
  • Collaborating on the development of sales pitch presentations, including design and research into relevant audiences and data
  • Communicating professionally and promptly with clients and external partners as necessary
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in event management
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills, including project management capabilities
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Willingness to work in the Boston office, including occasional evenings and weekends as required
  • Adaptability, client-focused mindset, and commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Preferred experience with hybrid events

The BGMP office is conveniently located and accessible by public transportation. Candidates should be prepared to work in this location.
