Job Title: Pool Valet

Department: Pool and Spa

Reports To: Pool and Spa Manager

Summary

The Pool Valet is responsible for performing a variety of essential tasks related to the upkeep and maintenance of swimming pools and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute service orders and follow verbal instructions to remove, repair, and install pool systems and equipment. Educate clients on the proper operation of pool equipment and maintenance of optimal pool conditions.
  • Conduct repairs on concrete surfaces, pool covers, skimmers, vacuums, and pumps.
  • Replace essential components such as filters, sand, valves, pipes, and hoses.
  • Perform cleaning of pools and associated equipment to ensure cleanliness and safety.
  • Install new drains and skimmers as required.
  • Adhere to established procedures for the seasonal opening and closing of pools.
  • Operate company vehicles to transport materials and supplies to various locations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on larger installations and repairs involving heavy equipment.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of parts and materials for assigned tasks.
  • Document service calls, parts utilized, and time spent for accurate billing.
  • Utilize hand and power tools, company vehicles, and other departmental equipment as authorized.
  • Comply with all company policies, particularly those related to safety, quality, and cleanliness of work areas.
  • Complete additional tasks as requested to meet operational needs.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties as necessary to adapt to changing business conditions.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for personal work and occasionally oversee one other individual.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Basic understanding of equipment and service manuals, with the ability to interpret instructions.

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED); one to three years of related experience and/or training, or a combination of education and experience.

Language Skills:

  • Proficient in reading and writing in English.
  • Ability to comprehend simple instructions and correspondence, as well as write basic correspondence.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Capable of performing basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to exercise judgment in complying with pool service protocols for repairs and maintenance.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • This position is considered safety-sensitive due to driving responsibilities and handling of chemicals.

Physical Demands:

The physical requirements for this position include:

  • Moderate physical activity.
  • Occasional lifting and moving of heavy materials.
  • Frequent mental and visual attention, with intermittent workflow requiring checks.
  • Standard 40-hour workweek, with potential overtime during peak seasons.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics include:

  • Somewhat challenging working conditions.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, odors, and dampness.
  • Non-smoking policy in company facilities and on customer properties.
