Overview

The Pool Service Technician is responsible for a variety of essential tasks related to the upkeep and repair of swimming pools and associated equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute service orders and follow verbal instructions to disassemble, repair, and install pool machinery and systems. Educate clients on the operation of pool equipment and ensure optimal pool conditions.
  • Conduct repairs on concrete surfaces, pool covers, skimmers, vacuums, and pumps.
  • Replace necessary components such as filters, sand, valves, pipes, and hoses.
  • Perform thorough cleaning of pools and their equipment.
  • Install new drains and skimmers as required.
  • Adhere to established protocols for seasonal pool openings and closures.
  • Operate company vehicles to transport materials and supplies to job sites.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on larger installations and repairs involving heavy machinery.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of parts and materials for scheduled service calls.
  • Document service calls, parts utilized, and time spent for accurate billing.
  • Utilize hand and power tools, company vehicles, and other departmental equipment as authorized.
  • Follow all company policies, particularly those related to safety, quality standards, and maintaining clean workspaces.
  • Complete additional tasks as requested to support business operations.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Undertake other duties as necessary to adapt to changing business needs.

Supervisory Role

  • Primarily responsible for personal tasks, with occasional oversight of one other individual.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Basic proficiency in using equipment and service manuals, with the ability to interpret instructions.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; one to three years of relevant experience or training, or a combination of education and experience.

Language Proficiency

  • Must possess the ability to read and write in English.
  • Capable of understanding simple instructions and writing basic correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Skills

  • Exercise sound judgment in compliance with pool service protocols for repairs and maintenance.

Certifications and Licenses

  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • This position is safety-sensitive due to vehicle operation and handling of chemicals.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands of this position include:

  • Moderate physical activity.
  • Occasional lifting and moving of heavy materials.
  • Frequent mental and visual focus, with intermittent workflow requiring checks.
  • Standard 40-hour workweek, with potential overtime during peak seasons.

Work Environment

The work environment may include:
