Familial Support Services Case Assistant

Key Responsibilities:
As a Familial Support Services Case Assistant, you will be integral in facilitating the support and reunification of families engaged with the Office of Child and Family Services - Child Welfare division. Your duties will include:
• Overseeing interactions between children and their guardians, providing companionship to children in various placements, and transporting clients for appointments and visits.
• Making referrals to link children, parents, and family members with essential services.
• Documenting information in the Child Welfare information system, Katahdin.
• Maintaining legal documentation and delivering court-related paperwork.
A successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal abilities, organizational skills, and proficiency in computer applications. This position is part of a collaborative team dedicated to assisting, informing, and engaging with the community. Expect significant travel within the service areas and occasional mandatory overtime.
Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible, your background must encompass training, education, or experience in office and client support roles that demonstrate 1) proficiency in applying knowledge of principles and practices to assist management with policies and procedures, and 2) the capability to exercise independent judgment, initiative, and decision-making in complex administrative and direct service tasks. A valid Class C Maine Motor Vehicle Operator's License is required. Preference will be given to candidates with:
1. Previous experience working directly with children and families in a social services environment.
2. Proficiency in standard workplace software applications (MS Word, EXCEL, Outlook, etc.).
