Job Title: Event Operations Assistant Manager

Overview:

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is in search of a meticulous and energetic individual to fill the role of Event Operations Assistant Manager. This position is crucial for the successful execution of both public and private events, ensuring a memorable experience for all guests.

Key Responsibilities:

General Duties:
  • Assist in the recruitment and oversight of event staff, including bartenders and event assistants.
  • Coordinate schedules for event captains and support staff.
  • Manage logistics related to events, including procurement and inventory management of supplies.
Event Responsibilities:
  • Act as the Zoo's representative with vendors on the day of events, facilitating setup and addressing any issues that arise.
  • Serve as the main contact for clients during events, ensuring all needs are met as per the Banquet Event Order (BEO).
  • Supervise event staff to guarantee timely arrivals and high-quality service, fostering smooth interactions among clients, guests, and vendors.
  • Ensure the Zoo environment remains orderly and clean by inspecting facilities and equipment throughout the event.
  • Dismiss event staff at the conclusion of the event.
Post-Event Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the breakdown of events, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for the next day's operations.
  • Oversee the return of rental equipment and assess venue conditions for future use.
  • Complete necessary documentation, including client change forms and incident reports.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Experience in hospitality, particularly in banquets and food service, is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Good judgment and decision-making abilities.
Working Conditions:
  • Flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical demands include walking long distances and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Work environment includes both indoor event spaces and outdoor areas subject to various weather conditions.
