Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Event Assistant to support the production and execution of marketing special events. This is an on-call, as-needed position that requires working weekends, late evenings, and some holidays.
Key Responsibilities- Event Logistics: Assist outside vendors with location and logistical needs, ensuring seamless event execution.
- Guest Services: Answer guest and/or vendor questions, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience.
- Event Operations: Escort guests and vendors on a golf cart or other Zoo vehicle, ensuring safe and efficient transportation.
- Bar Services: Assist bartenders with inventory management, maintaining a well-stocked bar and ensuring a smooth event experience.
- Event Troubleshooting: Be present at events to identify and resolve any issues that may arise, ensuring a successful event.
- Setup and Takedown: Assist with setting up and tearing down event infrastructure, including tents, food tables, registration areas, and signage.
- Registration Desk: Work at the registration desk, handling guest check-in and providing event information.
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of special event management and operations is helpful, but not required. Customer service orientation, positive attitude, versatility, flexibility, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.
- Qualifications: Valid state driver's license, high school diploma or equivalent, and a minimum age of 18 years old.
The Event Assistant will work in various weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors, and will be required to stand, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will also be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.
