Position Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineering Project Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective and timely execution of engineering project phases or significant initiatives to meet organizational cost and customer service goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define project objectives and targets for complex manufacturing engineering initiatives by analyzing project proposals and collaborating with management.
  • Guarantee that projects align with timelines, budgetary constraints, and technical standards through proficient project management.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts within manufacturing operations, focusing on critical production areas.
  • Engage with customers regularly to communicate project status and negotiate engineering or process modifications, fostering customer trust in manufacturing support.
  • Identify project responsibilities by breaking down phases and elements, allocating resources, and evaluating bids from external contractors.
  • Establish project specifications by examining product designs, customer needs, and performance benchmarks; conduct technical assessments and prepare cost analyses.
  • Maintain project timelines by reviewing plans and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project tasks.
  • Oversee project plans by evaluating design specifications and recommending actions to meet performance milestones.
  • Manage project expenditures and contractor agreements to control costs effectively.
  • Enhance professional and technical expertise by participating in educational workshops and reviewing industry publications.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards by monitoring existing and new legislation and advising management on necessary actions.
  • Provide analytical insights by interpreting data and conducting comparative analyses to recommend improvements.
  • Act as a consultant to management on significant matters, establishing project goals and identifying training needs for less experienced staff.
  • Share specialized knowledge and represent the company on specific projects, contributing to team success.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field is required. A minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in a related role is essential. Certifications from the Society of Manufacturing Engineering (SME) or Mechanical Engineering (ASME) are preferred.

The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing and production engineering principles, practices, and techniques, along with a solid understanding of the aerospace industry. Proficiency in process analysis and statistical process control is necessary, as well as the ability to utilize standard business applications and CAD/CAM systems effectively.

The candidate should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, the ability to coordinate across multiple teams, and excellent communication skills to convey technical information to various stakeholders. The role requires a commitment to continuous improvement and a focus on achieving project objectives.
