Patient Services Representative - Full Time
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Patient Services Representative is responsible for executing various administrative tasks within the medical office setting. Key responsibilities include:
- Processing charges and managing over-the-counter payment entries.
- Conducting insurance verification and confirming patient eligibility.
- Facilitating insurance pre-authorizations and pre-certifications.
- Providing guidance to patients and their families regarding insurance and payment matters prior to surgical procedures.
This role ensures that all necessary insurance, demographic, and eligibility data is accurately collected from patients and entered into the billing system promptly.
Additional responsibilities include registering patients within the system, gathering and updating patient insurance details, collecting co-pays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket expenses at the time of service, and posting approved adjustments to patient accounts. The representative is also tasked with balancing receipts, reconciling daily work batches, and maintaining an audit trail.
REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or GED is required. A college degree is advantageous. A minimum of two years of experience in a front office role within a medical environment is preferred but not mandatory.
