Patient Services Representative - Full Time
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The Patient Services Representative is responsible for executing essential administrative functions within the healthcare setting. This role may encompass various tasks including but not limited to: processing charges and managing payments; verifying insurance coverage and eligibility; obtaining necessary pre-authorizations and pre-certifications; and providing guidance to patients and their families regarding insurance and payment matters prior to surgical procedures.
This position ensures that all relevant insurance, demographic, and eligibility data is accurately collected from patients and entered into the billing system promptly. Responsibilities also include registering patients in the system, gathering and updating patient insurance details, collecting co-payments, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket expenses at the time of service, and posting approved adjustments to patient accounts. The representative will balance receipts, reconcile daily work batches, and maintain a comprehensive audit trail.
REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or GED is required.
A college degree is advantageous.
A minimum of two years of experience in a front office role within a medical environment is preferred but not mandatory.
