Overview:

The Financial Grants Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the accounting and reporting functions associated with grants and financial assistance for the county. This position encompasses a variety of responsibilities including account analysis, journal entry preparation, and the formulation of financial statements.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Executing journal entries to accurately record and amend financial transactions
  • Facilitating communication with grantor organizations
  • Generating financial documentation for grantor entities
  • Overseeing budget modifications and tracking grant expenditures
  • Evaluating grant operations
  • Conducting reconciliations for grant-related bank transactions
  • Reviewing payroll for grant-related reporting
  • Providing financial assessments as requested by grantor organizations and internal departments
  • Assisting in the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and Single Audit documentation
  • Maintaining regular and punctual attendance
  • Performing additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (preferred) or finance (or a related field with an accounting minor)
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, ideally within the government or non-profit sectors
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with governmental accounting standards
  • Capability to assess issues, compile reports, and communicate effectively
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Background check
  • Possession of a valid Texas Driver's License
