About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Staff Development and Education to join our team at Brookdale Riverwalk SNF. As a key member of our nursing leadership team, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing educational programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of our nursing staff.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing education and experience in leading and coordinating in-service training, continuing education, and orientation programs. You will work closely with our Director of Nursing Services to ensure that our nursing care is consistent with facility standards and that our staff receives the training and support they need to provide high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement educational programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of our nursing staff
  • Lead and coordinate in-service training, continuing education, and orientation programs
  • Work closely with our Director of Nursing Services to ensure that our nursing care is consistent with facility standards
  • Observe and evaluate Certified Nursing Assistants to judge efficiency of procedures and to train employees to improve skills
  • Develop, maintain, and secure records, reports, and instructional manuals, reference materials, pertinent to in-service programs
  • Meet with supervisors on a regular basis to solicit advice concerning training needs and assists in identifying and correcting problem areas and/or the improvement of services
  • Make written/oral recommendations to the Director of Nursing concerning in-service educational programs
  • Perform all assigned duties in a professional manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Provide counseling and follow-ups with employees as requested by the Director of Health Services/Supervisors
  • Complete schedules for the nursing department with input and oversight from the DCS
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A valid license to practice as an LVN
  • CPR Certification
  • At least one year of full-time experience providing direct care to the aged/chronically ill
  • Experience in planning, implementing, evaluating educational programs in the Nursing field
  • Ability to lead, direct, coordinate in-service training, continuing education, and orientation programs for the entire skill nursing staff
  • Written and verbal communication skills/interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy
